For some, it might be difficult to see how the Old Testament and the New Testament hinge together the truth of Jesus as Messiah. Saint Augustine said it well: “The new is in the old concealed; the old is in the new revealed.”
This is even more clearly presented by Jesus Himself which is documented for us in the third Sunday of Easter's reading from Luke 24:44-47: “Then He said to them, ‘These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.’ And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. Then He said to them, ‘Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.'"
For seasoned Bible students and for beginners as well, let’s all be encouraged to pray and ask God to open our understanding as we seek to apply His revealed truth to our daily lives!
