Ninth Sunday After Pentecost

Ever feel concerned about not having enough … Enough in your 401K? Enough salary? Enough gas in the car? Enough in your bank account? Enough food? Jesus’ disciples also worried - worried they didn’t have nearly enough to feed the 5,000. But when they handed over to Jesus the little they did have, He turned it into an abundance. On the 9th Sunday after Pentecost we read a verse known by many: “And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.” Matthew 14:19-20 So, whatever little you think you might have, commit it to the Lord’s care: “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38
