As we navigate through life, we often aim to create a certain image of ourselves that we want the world to see. Have you ever considered that God may have already branded you? In Scripture, sheep are often used to represent how God thinks of us. Sheep tend to stay in a flock and move together, but with no clear leader, often just following the first sheep to make a move. They can be quick to panic, fall victim to injury and disease, and have little ability to defend themselves. This is why the role of the shepherd is so crucial. The shepherd guides the flock, keeps them well-fed and calm, protects them from harm - and goes out of His way for just the one who has wandered off, is lonely, and needs to be carried for a bit.
On this Fourth Sunday of Easter, we read, "I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own" (John 10:14). As we face the challenges of the future and the busyness of this upcoming week, let’s renew our trust in the Good Shepherd who will always have your back and carry you when we need it most.
