The Joy of the Lord

The British Medical Journal (BMJ) published an externally peer-reviewed article shedding light on the profound societal challenges stemming from despair. Their findings underscore a stark reality - despair across societies is growing and not only results in clinical diseases but tragically culminates in premature mortality. There is an attempt by many to mask despair by (a)utilizing substances which is a futile attempt to alleviate and actually exacerbates problems, (b)seeking fleeting feelings of elation through manufactured euphoria, (c)embracing hollow causes to cope with their melancholy.

In the midst of this sobering analysis, a crucial question emerges: Where does genuine joy originate and how can we attain it?

Our Christian faith provides solace in the Scriptures which advocate seeking private communion with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The following verses illuminate a pathway towards profound and lasting joy amidst the tumult of contemporary challenges:

“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” John 15:11 “Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy.” Psalm 16:11a “And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.” Luke 24:52 “For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” Romans 14:17 28 “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Hoping you have a blessed and joyful week!
