Twentieth Fourth SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

One of the ingredients to a successful life that is so often missed by the modern self help gurus is the personal characteristic and ability to make firm moral decisions. So many are tossed to and fro by every new trend on social media, every new political cause to salute, every new psychological self-help theory espoused on YouTube. What is missing is the ability to be resolute, which is the inner moral fiber and spiritual strength to be absolute and final in determinations you make about life. Joshua was such a man, a man who was resolute. Near the end of his service to the Lord and His people he stated with determined resolve: "Now therefore revere the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods that your ancestors served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. Now if you are unwilling to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:14-15 As you meditate on this Sunday’s reading, make the decision to be more resolute in your and your family’s commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
